Three Reasons Companies Should Embrace CSR - KitePride

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is the term used to describe how a company/organization gives back to or improves the community. Organizations can show CSR in many ways, including in the form of donations to charities, employee volunteering, environmentally conscious production processes, ethical labor practices, social gifting and more.

When an organization functions with CSR, it sends a message to the greater community that it recognizes it is in a position to help society and is acting upon that acknowledgment. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is not going to solve the world’s problems. That said, CSR is a way for companies to benefit themselves while also benefiting society. Being a socially responsible company can bolster a company's image + build its brand. Here are 3 reasons why CSR matters.

1. Positive public attention
Being a socially responsible company/organization automatically positions you as a leader in the community, and a positive role model for others to follow suit. The rule of thumb is the media gains interest from companies that stand out from doing good. The media gains interest as a nice story to tell is welcomed as it differs from the unpleasant stories that generally circulating the papers. Not to mention, there are plenty of awards up for grabs for companies who promote good in the community.

2. Engaged employees
The way a company/organization treats the community suggests good things to its employees about how it perceives and respects them. As well as this, having a good reputation makes it easier to recruit employees. CSR will help retain staff as having a good company culture is always welcomed.

3. Loyal customers
Consumers think consciously about the products and services they buy. In a Nielson survey, 66% of participants said they pay more for products and services from socially responsible companies. When examining the population of participants willing to pay more, 56% said “a brand being known for its social value” was a top purchase driver. Another purchase drive, “a brand with community commitment,” was marked by 53% of those will to pay more. Customers will be loyal to your company if your values align with theirs.
