Giving THANKS to all our KITEPRIDERS 💚
In 2018, we upcycled 420 kitesurfing kites, 23 sails (20 optimist sails & 3 yacht sails), 25 parachutes AND provided 9506 hours of rehabilitation employment to men and women exiting the sex trafficking industry.
That is H.U.G.E.!
As we bring in the new year of 2019, we would like to give a BIG THANKS to ALL our kite/sail drop off locations (listed below) and donors for making a social impact with us!...you know who you are 😊
Donate your kite and receive a free product
... is the mantra by which we operate in order to receive kites so that we can continuously create unique, handmade and beautiful products. However...when we received the donation of 36 kites (yes, 36 kites) from Kite fix we were overcome with joy, excitement and shock (good shock) as this was our LARGEST donation yet.
Soo the next time you're about to trash your kite, think twice & donate it to us. When you donate a kite or sail, as our thank you gesture, you receive a free kite.pride bag or 30$ credit on our online shop. Check out our various global drop off points below!
We UPCYCLE but...what does it mean?
Upcycling is simply (not so simply) the process of taking what most would see as trash and turning it into something unexpected, useful, and beautiful! The process of upcyling serves as kite.pride`s environmental impact to counteract the growing ‘throwaway’, `fast fashion` culture and jump on the `slow fashion bandwagon. Plain and simple, upcycling makes a positive impact on the environment. When you upcycle, you simply remove items from the global garbage stream.
Upcycle / recycle - what`s the difference?
People are often confused with these two seemingly similar concepts. Upcycling is simply reusing waste without destroying it in order to form something new. Upcycling is more energy efficient as recycling takes waste products, breaks them down, then forms them into something new. in our online shop!
Slow fashion - we`re part of it!
Slow fashion is the movement of designing, creating, and buying garments for quality and longevity. It encourages slower production schedules, fair wages, lower carbon footprints, and (ideally) zero waste - all of which we proudly do! Unlike today’s mainstream fashion products that rely on globalized mass production where products are transformed from the design stage to the retail floor in only a few weeks, our products are all handmade, unique and represent all things “eco”, “ethical” and “green”.
