A unique workplace in the Middle East - A volunteer testimonial - KitePride

Would you believe me if I told you that in the MIDDLE of the Middle East there sits a beautiful social enterprise where political, linguistic, ethnic and racial differences are not only accepted, but embraced? Where everyone is welcome and valued?

Well, let me tell you, as hard as it is to believe... it’s 100% true.

Beyond being home to incredible fair trade production facilities where environmentally friendly bags are produced, KitePride is a truly safe space. No matter who you are, what you’ve been through or where you come from, you feel a sense of community at KitePride when you sit down at the lunch table each day and share a delicious healthy meal with the entire team--a sense that all of the chaos, anger, alienation and hatred that lay beyond the kitchen walls can stay just there while we all simply enjoy each others company.

It’s almost magical.

I’ll never forget the feeling I had sitting down at my first KitePride lunch. The English sentence that I joked with the Australian sitting next to me got translated into Hebrew for the woman across from her, which got translated into Russian for the woman on her right and then translated into Russian Sign Language for the woman on the end and we all wound up laughing together. Few of us even shared the same language yet there was an undeniable feeling of understanding that had been foreign to me up until that point.

Differences wash away at KitePride like the waves our surfers fly over, and all that remains is this united sense of purpose, commitment to a better future, and a passion for seeing the good in those we encounter.

At KitePride, we’re creating more than just bags… we’re creating a unique, diverse, vibrant, connected and absolutely magnificent family.
