WHAT WAS THE KITE.SHEVA MAKE-A-THON?
On February 7th & 8th, 9 teams of leading fashion, fabric, product and industrial designers came together for 30 hours to create NEW bag prototypes for kite.pride. We proudly co-hosted the event with our neighbor ShinSheva. ShinSheva, located in the heart of our industrial area, are a hub for makers and marketers. They enabled us to make the event possible. As part of their mission to empower local creative business, they provided us with their time, space, connections, maker skills and experience and expertise in creating such events.
The PRIZE - manufacture the winning bag with the team`s brand on the bag f o r e v e r.
All of our products here are made from upcycled fabrics such as kitesurfing kites, sailing yachts, Olympic yachts, parachutes and wet suits. The challenge for the designers was to design and create using our up cycled fabrics. No small feat.
NO ORDINARY BAG
THE GOAL
The goal of the Make-A-Thon was to help our social business launch new innovative products for both existing clients and to enter untouched markets in order to provide continuous rehabilitation employment. Due to cost, we do not have an in-house design team. Hence, the Make-A-Thon was born to be our outsourced R&D team. The Make-A-Thon was a HUGE success as it provided us with new designs, created company exposure and connected us with local Israeli designers.
Our bags are made from upcycled material such as used kitesurfing kites, yacht sails & parachutes.
