KitePride is a nonprofit owned fashion brand with a social and eco-friendly mission. Since 2017, we’ve been creating high-quality bags from upcycled materials – bold, durable, and always one-of-a-kind. Every bag is handcrafted from retired kites, sails, parachutes, and fabrics, making each piece as unique as its story.

Beyond design, our brand is built on three guiding principles: we are always social, always eco-friendly, and always committed to empowering people to rebuild their lives.
Every bag is made under fair and transparent working conditions, creating not just fashion, but meaningful change.

KitePride began with a simple but radical idea: people don’t need pity – they need jobs.

Founders Matthias and
Tabea Oppliger, both Swiss-born, grew up in Papua New Guinea, where they learned that even small actions can create big change. After careers in Switzerland and raising three children, they felt called to act when Tabea befriended women in prostitution. Listening to their stories, she saw that stable, respectful employment was the key to real freedom.

In 2014, Mati and Tabea moved to Tel Aviv under their non-profit organization glowbalact to pioneer and expand their mission. It evolved into transforming retired kites into unique, functional bags. In 2017, KitePride was born – a brand that merges ecological sustainability with social
impact.

Today, KitePride empowers survivors and marginalized people internationally and collaborates with like-minded social enterprises in different parts of the world.
